More Than Bread Devotional for 6/28/12

1 By the waters of Babylon,
there we sat down and wept,
when we remembered Zion.
On the willows there
we hung up our lyres.
For there our captors
required of us songs,
and our tormentors, mirth, saying,
“Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”  – Psalm 137:1-3

Sometimes sorrow is the only response that can fit a situation.  It is a very human thing to look for words of comfort or to try and “bring a smile” to the face of one who is hurting.  But there are times when only tears will suffice.  Take comfort in the words of Scripture that remind us that God is all too familiar with our heartaches and pain.  He knows our hurts and lovingly carries us through them in His arms.  Lean on the everlasting arms in your times of trial or tears.
