54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:54-58
There is nothing more depressing than the thought that all you do will be for nothing. No one wants to build something only to have someone else tear it down for no reason at all. There are times when Satan tries to convince us that the life of faith is all in vain. This is a lie. It is the only language he knows and it is all he can say. Scripture reminds us that there is a hope. Even the pain of death cannot put an end to the work of Christ in you and in me. So be steadfast and continue day by day in the work of the Lord. Let nothing stand in the way of serving Him and loving one another in that service. Don’t let the devil get you down.
