More Than Bread Devotional for 5/15/12

Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”  – Ecclesiastes 12:1

It almost seems like Solomon is saying that the older we get the more evil life becomes.  There is probably some truth in that perspective.  As children, most of us get a time of sheltering from the harsh realities of life.  I say most because I know there are some kids for whom that is not the case and my heart hurts to think of those situations.  But, this is a general truth.  The older we get, the more we know of life and its cruel twists.  Yet, as we remember our Creator, the God who has loved us and sent His son; we can have confidence that He continues to take care of us as He did the day before.  As we do that, we can find a way to take pleasure even today; and in doing so, we can redeem the time, even if the day is evil.
