More Than Bread Devotional for 4/23/12

20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.  – Ephesians 3:20-21

For some reason, when I read this, I remember the scene in Star Wars where Luke is trying to convince Han Solo that they should rescue Princess Leia from a detention block surrounded by storm troopers.  He says that they will get a reward for doing so and when Han asks how much it will be, Luke replies that it will be more money than he can imagine.  That’s when Han says, “I don’t know, I can imagine an awful lot.”

Do you realize that God truly has the resources to do far more than we can ask or think?  I sometimes feel like saying, “I don’t know, I can ask or think of an awful lot,” and yet I know that God is good for His word and His promises.  The Bible says that we have not because we ask not.  I am not trying to advocate one of those “ask for a jet plane” type of moments here, because else where it says we have not because we ask amiss (out of the will of God if you will).  Whatever you need to have to do what He has called you to do is available before you even think to ask Him, but you still need to ask Him.  So, what are you waiting for?  Ask Him.
