More Than Bread Devotional for 4/2/12

1The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.  – Psalm 19:1-3

The old adage asks if a tree falling in the forest makes a sound if there is no one who hears it.  I was thinking about this psalm and I am reminded of something related to that truth.  The fact that the heavens declare God’s glory and show His handiwork is only understood by those who can hear the language they speak.  Some are deaf to God’s voice.  They may be deaf because they are “plugging their ears” like a little kid might do or it may just be that they haven’t stopped to listen at all.  Either way, it doesn’t have to be a permanent condition.  Pray for those who haven’t heard His voice and listen for Him yourself.  He loves to talk to His kids.
