3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth. – Psalm 127:3-4
This month holds two birthdays in my family. My oldest child turned 13 a couple of weeks ago and today is my youngest’s 8th birthday. Truly my life has been enriched in many ways by the presence of all three of my children. I feel honored to have been entrusted with these blessings from God. At the same time, my heart is reminded of friends who desire children greatly but have been unable to have them, and I hurt for them and pray for them. One of the hardest things to grasp about the blessings given by God is why some seem to have more than others. I won’t pretend to have some great insight or answer as to why this happens. All I do know is that it doesn’t indicate that God loves some more than others. I think it has to do with the fact that God knows us better than we know ourselves. He is good and He loves you and desires the best for you, and He may be the only one who knows what that is supposed to look like on this side of eternity.
