More Than Bread Devotional for 2/20/12

10 For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.  – Psalm 84:10

There is a very popular praise and worship song that centers around this verse from Scripture.  I am sure that many of you have heard it and perhaps even sung it.  I had a rather convicting thought that hit me as I read it this time though.  If this is true, why do we often spend so much time elsewhere?  We should be mindful and reflective to see whether our lives reflect the truth of what we say we believe.  We can spend our time in the King’s courts in prayer and study with Him, or we can choose a whole lot of elsewheres.  Which will you do today?
