More Than Bread Devotional for 2/8/12

5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.  – Colossians 4:5-6

Paul tells us that we need to be mindful of our interactions with those who are not believers in Christ.  He mentions making the best use of the time.  We can and should take time to share the faith, to spread the Gospel, to give an answer for the hope that we have.  We should not allow these things to consume us to the point that we ignore those who are already our brothers and sisters in Christ and certainly not to the detriment of our own walk with Christ.  You can share the Gospel, but you cannot convince anyone of its truth by the force of your arguments or persuasion.  The Holy Spirit alone can bring conviction to a stony heart.  Make the best use of your time.  Share the truth and then let the Lord work in that person’s life from there.
