More Than Bread Devotional for 2/3/12

James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

We use these verses a lot when we are going through troubles. Some of us seem to live in troubles… one ends and another is right behind it. For those of you who feel like the waiting never ends I point you to verse 4. Look at it for just a second. “Perseverance must FINISH its work.” Let’s also look at one of my other endurance verses: 2 Timothy 4:7 -“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
So what… you may say? The word they have in common is the kicker. It’s the extra adrenaline for the fight of your life. Someday there will be a finish! Work to the finish my friends; don’t give up. God has a final marker – the finish line for this trouble and for all troubles. This work must finish, so you will be complete and mature. Hang in there. Finish well.
