17 ‘Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. 18 You show steadfast love to thousands, but you repay the guilt of fathers to their children after them, O great and mighty God, whose name is the LORD of hosts, 19 great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, rewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds. – Jeremiah 32:17-19
Sometimes, I just need to be reminded of all of these things. Both the notion that nothing is too difficult for God to do and the reminder that God’s love is balanced by His justice. There is nothing hidden from Him. Sometimes we fear what man will think more than we fear what God does think. Sure, fearing what another person will think of us for some slip of character or misdeed might help to keep us in line at times; but the fact that we can be more fearful of what others may think of us if we get caught in a transgression of some kind, indicates that we fear man more than God in that moment. After all, God always sees. Do we really believe that? Do we live like we really believe that to be true?
