More Than Bread Devotional for 12/19/11

4He shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.

5O house of Jacob,
come, let us walk
in the light of the LORD.    – Isaiah 2:4-5

Since the angels declared “peace on earth,” many have questioned the fact that there is no peace.  Passages like this one in Isaiah remain unfulfilled and cause some to question.  The Bible tells us elsewhere that God is not slow in keeping His promises; certainly, it is not our place to judge when He must do something.  Nevertheless, we all long for peace and safety.  A day when nations don’t resort to war to solve differences but instead look to the King of Kings.  That day will come.  In the meantime, there is peace available as the angels said to “those on whom His favor rests.”  It is those who walk in His light that enjoy His favor.  So if you need some peace, place your trust in the Lord and walk in His light.
