More Than Bread Devotional for 12/12/11

19Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
20He sent out his word and healed them,
and delivered them from their destruction.  – Psalm 107:19-20

We think of a lot of things when we think of God’s Word.  John is the one who told us how that Word became flesh and dwelt among us.  I think it is interesting to note a number of these passages in the Old Testament that speak to these various activities of God’s Word.  When the people cried out in trouble and distress, it was God’s Word that came and brought healing.  Indeed, Jesus has healed us and delivered us and continues in that work to this very day.  MayHe be a healing word to you today.

P.S.  For those who are faithful readers of this devotional, I apologize for the lack of devotionals over the last two weeks.  Vacation and getting back into the groove threw me off of my routines more than I expected.
