More Than Bread Devotional for 11/2/11

1In the LORD I take refuge;how can you say to my soul,
“Flee like a bird to your mountain,
2for behold, the wicked bend the bow;
they have fitted their arrow to the string
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart;
3if the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”   – Psalm 11:1-3

A good foundation is extremely important.  It is ironic in a way, because the foundation can only truly be seen when it is being laid.  The rest of the time it is out of sight and out of mind, unless something happens to it.  A bad foundation that cracks or crumbles will quickly cause the rest of the building to fall apart.  So too with our faith.  If our faith is solidly placed on the unshakeable God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, on the Rock of Ages that is Jesus Christ; we will not be shaken or destroyed.  The only way your foundation can be destroyed is if it is built on something else.  Build on the Rock.
