More Than Bread Devotional for 10/6/11

Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eye was undimmed, and his vigor unabated. 8And the people of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.  – Deuteronomy 34:7-8

I have been reading in Deuteronomy a lot lately, but I read this passage and the words about Moses caught my eye.  He was 120 years old when he died, but he didn’t die because his health had failed or because he had gotten sick or anything.  He died because God had told him he would get to enter the promised land and it was now time to go there.  Moses entered a different promised land and a rest that is promised to all of us.  His impact was felt in those who mourned for him for 30 days.  May you run your race every day until the day God calls you home to His rest.
