“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.” – Exodus 20:2
This phrase and many variations of it appear often in the Old Testament. Have you ever wondered why the frequent reminders are there? Maybe many of you have already figured out that God just realizes that we need to be reminded often of such things. Sometimes I forget this though, so I have to be reminded of this also. 🙂
For us who are in Christ, the phrase is now also “the Lord your God, who brought you out of slavery to sin.” You may not see it as often in the New Testament as you do in the Old, but I think that is because we have the Holy Spirit within, reminding us of this truth daily. Just in case you haven’t heard it recently, let this be your reminder for today. God loves you and delivered you from the slavery that is sin.
