More Than Bread Devotional for 9/19/11

1O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.  – Psalm 63:1

Oftentimes we fail to realize which things are truly important until we do not have them.  David wrote this psalm when he was in the wilderness and probably in great need of water.  As he thought about the desperate need for water in his circumstance, he thought of an even greater need in all of us.  We oftentimes don’t realize how important our need for God is.  As I continue to see the mentions of the severe drought in areas of the south in the US, I thought of this passage.  Pray for those who are in drought-stricken areas; earnestly seek God for their relief and for your own life day-to-day as well.
