More Than Bread Devotional for 9/6/11

19The sun shall be no more
your light by day,
nor for brightness shall the moon
give you light;
but the LORD will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.
20Your sun shall no more go down,
nor your moon withdraw itself;
for the LORD will be your everlasting light,
and your days of mourning shall be ended.

Over the weekend, some of the family watched the old version of the movie “Annie.”  Whenever I think of that movie I always remember the song that says, “The sun will come out tomorrow.”  The Lord promises us something much better: a day where the sun will not even be needed.  The Lord will be your everlasting light.  In one sense, this is already available to the believer in Christ.  We have a foot in the Kingdom already as His disciples and the light that He has promised will light our way in the darkest of times.  No matter the situation you find yourself in, you can rest assured that His light will shine through and see you through to the end.
