More Than Bread Devotional for 8/25/11

18For thus says the LORD,who created the heavens
(he is God!),
who formed the earth and made it
(he established it;
he did not create it empty,
he formed it to be inhabited!):
“I am the LORD, and there is no other. 19 I did not speak in secret,
in a land of darkness;
I did not say to the offspring of Jacob,
‘Seek me in vain.’
I the LORD speak the truth;
I declare what is right.   – Isaiah 45:18-19

There is an old expression that states, “nature abhors a vacuum.”  It isn’t talking about the appliance.  The statement comes from a scriptural perspective in this sense.  God didn’t create the heavens and the earth and then vacate the premises.  He placed us here, but He also has communicated with us.  He wants us to know Him.  God tells us to seek Him and know Him.  He wasn’t playing a game with us.  Isaiah said He didn’t tell us to seek Him “in vain.”  If you are anxious or confused or need to hear from the Lord, ask Him.  Seek Him.
