More Than Bread Devotional for 8/22/11

1God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
2Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Selah    – Psalm 46:1-3

When everything is going good, we seldom take the time to really ponder the truth of this promise.  But when we find ourselves in the midst of the storm or trial or trouble, we will find that we understand very well what the psalmist is talking about here.  God is ever present.  He is keenly present in our hour of need, but never forget that He is also present in our times of comfort and ease as well.  Those are the times when we tend to forget about His presence and His help.  Don’t only call on Him in your storms and trouble, call on Him in your times of quiet and peace as well.  Whichever you are experiencing today, He is there.
