More Than Bread Devotional for 7/8/11

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

During “biblical” times scarlet and crimson died fabrics were some of the most expensive stuff you could get. Why? Because they were specially died. Once something was this color nothing could wash it out. It was permanent dye. That’s why this verse is so amazing to me. Read it like this – “Though your sins were so nasty, so dirty that your body was filled with them. Though it seemed that you were stained forever . . . through the power of God they are now white, completely. There are no tough spots that need washing again. There are no left-over stains. They are all gone for good.” What an amazing gift!
