More Than Bread Devotional for 6/29/11

1Save me, O God!
For the waters have come up to my neck.
2I sink in deep mire,
where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
and the flood sweeps over me.   – Psalm 69:1-2

Later today, I am going to be out helping in the flood zone near Minot, ND.  I am looking forward to the chance to put the disaster relief chaplaincy training to use helping people.  I can’t help but think about the helpless feeling that flooding brings.  Living here in North Dakota, we have become much more familiar with the ravages of flood waters, although not personally to this point.  I can only imagine the sights and heartache that I will encounter as I get to minister to the people of Minot today.  Please remember me in your prayers and remember those who are affected by flooding in Minot and elsewhere in the country during this time.

P.S. Wanted to send out a special happy birthday to my sister Gina who started these devotions over 10 year ago.  You get to see some of her old posts every Friday; and when she is done with school, I hope that you will see some new ones from her as well.  Pray for her healing from back issues and for her to finish strong in school with her MDiv at Liberty.  Blessings to you on your birthday lil sister.  If you get the link to this devotional through Twitter feel free to message her @ginabob
