More Than Bread Devotional for 5/13/11

Psalm 13
How long, O Lord ? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, O Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death; my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me.

Oh the Psalms…. how I relate. See that verse that says “I wrestle with my thoughts” I do that too and let me tell you – it’s exhausting. : o ) So what is the key to overcoming those night time invaders that wrestle with you while you should be sleeping. “I trust in Your unfailing love.” Head those nasty thoughts off by “singing to the Lord… for He has been good to me.” In honor of the sleep deprived wrestlers in our group…

Psalm 62:5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
Psalm 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
Psalm 4:8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord , make me dwell in safety.

Happy Friday
