More Than Bread Devotional for 5/6/11

Proverbs 14:29
A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.

Proverbs 15:18
A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.

Patience is one of my least favorite things to have to exibit. These two verses from Proverbs show us why having patience is a really good thing. Most of us have had the experience of jumping into a bad situation without thinking or praying about it. 9 times out of 10 it blows up into a full blown problem or confrontation. There is something to be said for giving it a bit, calming down, and then coming back to the situation. Lot’s of times conflicts can be worked out with God’s help but if you don’t ever ask…. well you know the rest!
