6 Therefore Jesus told them, “The right time for me has not yet come; for you any time is right. 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil. 8 You go to the Feast. I am not yet going up to this Feast, because for me the right time has not yet come.” 9 Having said this, he stayed in Galilee.
I seem to be finding a lot of things lately about God’s timing, and its variance from man’s timing. Jesus’ statement here shows us that there is a difference between the two in most cases. But if you read on in this chapter, you will also see that He didn’t wait very long to indeed go up to this festival. He just didn’t do it at the time everyone else thought He should and He didn’t do it the way everyone else thought He should. Could Jesus have gone up earlier? Not if He wanted to obey God and do things the way His Father wanted them. Jesus is a great example to us on every level. He was obedient to the Father in everything. Even His schedule.
