More Than Bread Devotional for 3/11/11

Luke 5:4
When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”

You know the end of this story. God gives them an amazing catch after a fishless day. The fishermen in this case had to do a few things on faith here to reap this litle fish harvest. First they did exactly what God told them to do. Even though they had already been out ALL day with no catch. To follow those directions they left the shallow and headed straight for the deep. God is God. He definitely could have given them a haul right where they were “Just drop those nets right here boys!!” But He chose to teach them a lesson about following the Leader – and boy did they learn.

The lesson here to me is sometimes you have to venture into the deep water… that stuff that looks like it will swallow you if you even try to wade in… before you can find what God has waiting for you.
Happy swimming!!!!!
