16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.” 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
We all need people we can count on. Ruth is partly a story of loyalty. Ruth makes a pledge to Naomi to be with her wherever she goes and whatever she does. She never breaks that bond of fellowship and love either. The impact of her decisions is felt even today, as she was part of the lineage of Jesus. As Christians we should take this attitude toward our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Whatever you can do or wherever you can go to help your brother or sister is never too much.
