Matthew 3:13-15
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”
15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.
Everything about Jesus’ life and ministry was intentional. As you study His life this just cannot be ignored. He would do things that no one else would do. In many cases, He was actively discouraged from doing them by those around Him. But He did what had to be done and what was right to do. It didn’t matter if it might affect how people thought of Him. It didn’t matter if it didn’t look right to anyone else. Jesus did what the Father told Him to do. In following Him, we must do the same.
